HMS HOOD, Battle-cruiser.
Displacement 42,100 tons, HP 144,000 speed 31 knots. Main armament eight 15 inch guns, secondary twelve 5.5 inch, eight 4 inch AA. By 1940 the secondary guns had all been replaced by AA guns. The hood was built at an original cost of £6025.00 by John Browns, Clydebank yard in 1920. The hood blew up and sank during the action with the Bismark and Prinz Eugen. |
